Research - 9 out of 10 UK women don't accept one night stands

BBC NEWS: "Women say 'casual sex is immoral'"

This research is based on in-depth interviews with 46 women. The article makes claims like

They found that although participants thought one-night stands were immoral, they did not condemn women for having them as many of them had indulged themselves.

I wonder about how those interviews have been done, and whether they have been "content neutral" or those interviewed has been led on. It seems the results surprised the researchers - and it surprise me a little bit, yet thinking carefully about it, it seems reasonably logical. Women tend to verbalize and rationalize, and there's a strong internal justice against "being too easy". If the interviews were heavy handed and forced the women to decide, this would probably land on the women transferring this to being negative, and then rationalizing this as thinking it's not morally acceptable.

(outlink) Beck Institute - Cognitive Therapy Founder

The Beck Institute was the original founders of cognitive therapy / cognitive-behavioural therapy. They've got a number of links to suitable resources, including a large number of recommended books. That includes self-help books for social anxiety - in other words, self-help for the problem that block most people from being seducers, using the most effective (documented) therapy form we have.

(outlink) Subsex, sexuality courses (in danish)

www.subsex.dk are (danish) sexuality improvement courses based on cognitive therapy and hypnosis. There is some free content (presently links, treatment of jealousy, and a course in medition) and more paid content.

Seems like it's a worthwhile course - maybe I'll pick it up.

Only slightly on topic, but I found a free copy of a classic online: Gray, Henry. 1918. Anatomy of the Human Body. Learning the muscles can be useful for getting better at massage.

What, me, a knowledge geek? I have no idea what you're talking about...

Encyclopedia of Educational Technology

Encyclopedia of Educational Technology

The Encyclopedia of Educational Technology (EET) is a collection of short multimedia articles on a variety of topics related to the fields of instructional design and education and training. The primary audiences for the EET are students and novice to intermediate practitioners in these fields, who need a brief overview as a starting point to further research on specific topics. Authors are graduate students, professors, and others who contribute voluntarily. Articles are short and use multimedia to enrich learning rather than merely decorate the pages.

Looks quite interesting, for those of us that's interested in learning and teching methods.

Body Language Tip: Chin Up! (Shark by way of BG)

From Shark by way of Lifestyle with BG:

Beta males hold their chins down to protect their throats in nature. However we evolved, you don't need to protect your throat! Expose your throat and lift your chin up. Showing your throat is alpha!!

As BG says, thinking of it this way seems much easier than to just think of keeping your chin up.

(outlink) Extramarital Affairs

OK, first of all, I consider extramartial affairs to be a dubious idea at best. Unless you can square it with your partner (in which case it isn't an extramartial affair any more), I think it's way better to work on the relationship itself, taking whatever courses and learning whatever new skills you need to make the relationship work. You can even bring in a new person (of your own gender) as a nice surprise for your partner, and spice it all up by your own slight tingling of jealousy.

However, if you don't feel able to stay inside the relationship, the website Philanderers.com has a guide to Extramarital Affairs..... Long or Short term, with tips for those that want to conduct one. The tips seems quite sound, for a basically unsound idea...
