(outlink) Elaboration Likelihood Model

The Elaboration Likelihood Model is a model of persuasion, one attempting to be all-encompassing. The description include (under "Variables", of all things) good summaries of the more well-known mini-theories of persuasion (e.g, reactance, congruity, classical conditioning), so even if the theory should turn out to be less than useful (it's been around since 1982 and I haven't heard of it), the summaries are good :)

(outlink) Department of Sociology: Trust Online Edition

The University of Oxford Department of Sociology has made available the book Trust: Making and Breaking Cooperative Relations, a collection of academic papers on trust (edited by Diego Gambetta). The reflections on the nature of trust (the first half or so of the book) are relevant for interpersonal relations including seduction. I found several new techniques for increasing trust just by reading the first chapter and thinking about what that meant; I look forward to reading the rest.
